event of his not returning before the Calcutta sailed he requested me to send the specimens & seed he had collected while belonging​ being with the Investigator.  There are twelve casks marked plants Admiralty and four box's markd H M Garden Kew which Captain Woodruff has received and put in a dry place.

Our accounts from the Southward are not very favourable.  Collins could not find a place fit for a settlement on the New Holland side of the strait, so that he has removed to the Derwent which from all accounts can never be of any great consequence.  It is much to be regreted that when those Surveys are taken; that some person qualified to judge of soil & situation did not account any there. I offered my services to the Governor which he declined accepting for no other purpose I supposed than that it might take away any merit from those he sent.
