After the Admiralty had given up opposing my having Naval Rank in the Colony, & I was appointed to the Porpoise; Adml. Gambier sent for me, & said the Board, in order that they might arrange matters wished me to write for leave to go in the Lady Sinclair as accommodations were there for me, which without considering the consequence I did, "to proceed in the Lady Sinclair to accompany the Porpoise".
