Country mens return here, as I think you'll agree with me that an intercourse between this place & the Isle of France is by no means advisable or desirable - I have written fully on this as on all other subjects to hand [indecipherable] & I hope you will be able to get a sight of my Dispatches -

As I understand Mr Brown means to send Miss [?] Banks a sett of our Gazettes I shall not trouble you with Duplicates, unless I find he does not send his Anonymous [indecipherable] papers were so plentiful that I judged it necessary to give the people at large [?] a weekly amusement which has had its advantages & of which many have profited/

In my letters by the Glatton I suggested to Mr Sullivan the necessity of a good Mineralogist [indecipherable] must being here for some time to discover what Minerals we possess, as I am not altogether certain to subscribe to the French Mineralogists opinion [?] that there is no Minerals of value here, such an enthusiastic in that Science as Mr Brown & Mr Bauer are in their respective pursuits would be attended with some advantage-

In my judgement of the State of the Colony which I enclose I have to request as it is only for your own Information that you would use your own Judgment to where it is communicated as it may not be deemed altogether proper my communicating those things to others than to Ministers-
