The Carob Seeds you sent by the Glatton have been distributed & most of them are growing -

Suter [Suttor] after being Three years maintained for the Stores with his Family & Three men allowed him with a good Store House built he is now doing tolerable well I say tolerable because he is not a Farmer altho his return [indecipherable] and he has a good Stock, [indecipherable] he shall be supported till he can run alone-

I am now inclosing by Double Ditching tracks of Ground from 10 to 40 acres each & subdividing them - in these enclosures we are sowing & planting Burnett clovers & Trefoil also Rye grass - as fast as we can get the Seeds & Plants - This is necessary for our increasing Cattle at particular times of the year when there is no natural pasture - Our larger enclosures for the Cattle advance rapidly - Our late Muster of the Settlers &c an [indecipherable] of which I send will show you the promising state the Colony is now in, and if we could but entirely keep away the Fiery Perish finds its way some times, we should continue to do well But as fate will have it, the Peace has brought an adventurer from the Isle of France [Mauritius] with an evident intention of establishing a commerce between that place & this viz Imports Spirits, & Exports Government Bills, But in this I hope I have defeated his intentions, altho I have allowed him to sell the quantity he has brought about 4000 Gallons - Yet I have given him such an explanation [?] on that subject as I hope will prevent his or any of his
