is placed by Mr Grant considerably too far to the  Southward & Westward which might be of serious consequence to Ships entering the Straits by that passage. The true Latitude of that Cape is 38o: 53 So. & Longitude about 144o Est.  The former is from very good meridianan [?] observations & the latter by the run from Hunters Island; King's Island also lyes proportionably to the Eastward, but it's Latitude is correct.  I have sent a corrected Chart of those situations to My Lord Hobart to send to send to the Admiralty for Mr Dalrymples information & Inclose you a copy for your private use of Mr Robbins's general observations on Western Port - by which you will see that it is by no means calculated for an agricultural Settlement; however it may hereafter be considered fit for a Port.

You will observe that no Harbour exists where it was surmised a very spacious one was to be found - altho it affords good shelter for small vessells and will be useful to our Colonial Sealers.

As I hope you will see my Dispatches sent by this conveyance, I must refer you to the [indecipherable] to repeat my Respectful good wishes with which

I am Sir
Your obliged Humble Servant

Philip Gidley King
