Sydney Jany. 16th 1805

Dear Sir

The enclosure is the account how we stand with Cayley [Caley] which I thought you might be desirous of having.  I shall send no more receipts to Mr Sykes as I think the most regular mode will be that of drawing on you as Sums may be required by Cayley where they exceed £10.

Since I closed my letters the Integrity has returned from surveying the Western Entrance of Bass's Straits as it was very confidently reported that a very fine harbour existed between the unexamined part of Van Diemens land between what Capt Flinders calls "Circular Head" & Hunters Islands, I was anxious to ascertain that point, as well as to inform myself fully of the situation of Cape "Albany Otway", which the French & several of our Sailors had informed me was laid down too far to the Southward - and another object was to examine how far Western Port might be eligible for a Settlement as it appeared to me that Lord Hobart was desirous of having one on that side of the Strait.

To perform this Service I sent the Acting Lieut of the Buffalo a Mr Robbins who has performed it very much to my satisfaction in seven weeks - and has corrected a very glaring & material Error which the respecting the situation of Cape Albany Otway - which
