Captain Short had to bring against this Deponent and which had been represented in his threats against this Deponent in the Colonis [Colonies] before mentioned the same were withdrawn shortly before the time appointed for the Trial of the Deponent therein.  And this Deponent believes that Copies of the said several Reports and orders have been transmitted to the Board of Admiralty, And this Deponent further saith that he was not nor has ever stated himself to have been instigated in his proceedings against the said Captain Short either by the said Governor Bligh or any other person.  That the Occasion of his seeing the said Governor were very rare and he then usually saw him in large Companies.  That the only occasion on which he had any Conversation with the said Governor on the Subject of Charges to be preferred against Captain Short was on one day whilst the Buffalo was preparing for her Voyage to England.
