Officer that made him accept of this Command, for the way or line he was in was certainly more lucrative. His wifes Uncles, one of whose ships he saild [sailed], began as a trading Master of a Merchant Man, tho he is now a very considerable Merchant in the City, & has realised a considerable Land Property, tho [though] he still carrys on the Merchant Commerce.

I write all these things a la venture from a desire of being of some use to the men, without knowing how far it may be agreeable to you to be applyd [applied] to in this manner. I make little doubt tho you by no means like to apply to Ministers, for few men of Spirit but finds it very disgusting ;  yet I apprehend your inclination to do good & help modest Merit will incline you now to help Mr Bligh ;  as well as formerly: for he certainly owed his former success to your Manly spirited - exertions for him. At any rate, I hope you will be so good as excuse this trouble from -
