consider the information collected during the voyage of the "Investigator" to be of sufficient importance to be laid before the publick in the form of a narrative, to be drawn up by Captain Flinders, upon a plan similar to that pursued in the publication of Captain Cooks' voyage, and conformable with the 5th and 6th articles of the engagement made by their Lordships with the men of science emplyed on the said voyage.
Under these circumstances I have to express to you the thanks of their Lordships for the handsome manner in which you have been pleased to offer your superintendence in the management of the draughtsmen, engravers, &c who are are to be employed: an offer of the value of which my Lords are too sensible not to accept
