A young man whose name is Brugmans is chosen to succeed V. Royen, although the latter wished rather to have had Thunberg invited, for he says the new professor must learn before he can teach;  but the political parties interfere with every thing here at present, & he was put in by a man of power. 

Professor Sandifort is about publishing a superb work on the Crania of different Nations, of which he means to send you a copy.  He and every one else are anxious to see your Flora Australis. 

I receiv'd my degree yesterday, & shall set off towards Paris tomorrow, where if you have any commands a letter to Broussonet's will be sure to find me.  I have not yet been lucky enough to meet with a single book of your desiderata - I was much disappointed in the Amsterdam booksellers;  & this is not ye season for auctions .   Mr:  Van Royen desires me to send you his comp:ts & many thanks for your present:  he is very eager after west indian plants . -
