I hope the turkies will maintain their credit, & that you & the ladies may partake of them for many years to come.
I trouble you now chiefly to say I have just got a letter from Mr. Bracey Clark, whom I believe you know personally, & you know his paper on Oestii in the Linn. Socy's 3d Vol. He is at Lausanne & writes as follows. "I wish to return through France to Engl.d [England]; if proposals for peace are renewed, I may obtain permission of the Directory to pass. My friends here are endeavoring to obtain me a passport under the pres.t [present] circumstances, but I fear with not much success. After so much trouble & expence, I should be sorry to be obliged to return without obtaining my principal object, the veterinary
