One of the Superintendants sent me calls himself a Flax dresser, I believe all he knows, is the knowledge he gained while a Linnen draper, but I have sent him to N. Island. I have requested One or two good Active Farmers, they must be Men in whom great confidence can be placed for they will be charged with the produce of the Convict labour, & on their diligence much will depend, can you my Dear Sir, assist Nepean in finding such Men?  Many may be found for whom such places would be very convenient, but we want Men calculated for such a situation, & none but Official Men can be of any kind of Service, as Superintendants, to be charged with a number of Convicts who are to be employed in Agriculture, or as Carpenters & Brick-makers. Overseers we find amongst the Convicts.  We have a Slate quarry, but none who have ever worked in one.  The quantity of Indian Corn sowed this Year may be from Six to ten Acres as the Season permits - next Year all the Ground now sowed with
