[Page 2]

have never mentioned receiving the different plants of Ipecacuanha which I sent from Rio de Janeiro, by the Master of the Sirius who retd. to England, his Name is Morton.  As you was desirous of having those plants I should be sorry if they have not reached you.

The Vines you are kind enough to promise me will be very acceptable, tho' the few I brought from the Brazil & the Cape, have increased so as to have put it in my power to send five hundred cuttings to Norfolk Island, & I suppose we have two thousand in the ground here & at Rose Hill; where a Vineyard of two Acres will be planted next year.  Last summer produced two good bunches of Grapes, which may be mentioned, as being the first this Country has produced, tho' being neglected they decayed on the Vine.  A tollerable Gardener came out wth. the last Ships, so that we shall do better in future, & no opportunity of sending Seeds or Plants will be lost.
