Dear Sir

I had the pleasure of Answering the letter I received in London, from Sta. Crux; and since I have been in this Port I have as far as possible endeavoured to procure the information you desired. I have sent by the late Master of the Sirius, Mr Morton, who' returned to England in a Southern Whaler four different kinds of Ipecacuenhe [also spelt Ipecacuanha] - that in the bottle is said by the Surgeon of this place (who' procured it from an Estate that formerly belonged to the Insuites about twelve Leagues from hence) to be the true kind.  He calls it the Ipecacuenhe de Rais parda.  I keep one plant for the Person who' is collecting plants at the Cape, and I have three Plants that I think will live, he will have an opportunity of examining
