<p>[Page 81]</p><p>of course the weapons haven&#39;t been sharpened and are mostly made of fairly soft material. For the boxing lessons a prize fighter has come up from Liverpool, a Mr Ruhde, who shows great dedication. I always find it most amusing to watch the men, wearing thick rubber gloves, whack each other, and many a one can be seen running around with hugely swollen eyes for several days.</p><p>The memorial stone on the hill is nearing completion. It was particularly challenging to get the sculpted granite blocks up the hill. For this purpose, the committee had hired an oxcart driver and 10 pairs of oxen, but he only managed 3 trips a day up the hill. Every time the cart was loaded with 4 to 6 granite blocks, depending on their size, and slowly but steadily the oxen pulled the load uphill. The memorial itself is now more or less finished, and there is mainly the landscaping left to do.</p><p>The long captivity is beginning to leave</p>
