June 25th
"We drank the Libyan Sun to sleep
We lit lamps which outburned Canopus
Oh! My life in Egypt, Oh! The
dalliance and the wit!
The flattery and the strife!"
"Oh!!!" indeed.
Well, despite the monotony & the general unpleasantness of war & conditions I suppose some day I shall look back with pleasure on my life in Egypt. But I shall it will only be, I think, after an exceptionally good dinner.
By the way, I don't think I mentioned it at the time,
