an official inspection was announced there was an all round improvement in the fare provided – both in quantity and quality; & then of course there were no complaints. One day, however, Colonel Abbott unexpectedly swooped upon the mess room at dinner time to investigate a complaint about "dishcloth" tea. He at once sampled it & made a wry face in doing so.
"Taste that," he said to the officer in charge.
The officer did so & said he did not think there was anything wrong with it.
"Would you like to drink it yourself?" pursued the Colonel
