28th S.B. Squads went out with their companies, they to clean bricks to make gun
emplacements, and the SB's ostensibly to repillage the already pillaged houses, but
really in case of accidents.
We found plenty of beautiful vases and statuettes of Christ, crucifixes etc. but, having no
means of getting them away reluctantly had to leave them there.
In nearly every house we found Encyclopaedias worth £ 2 to £ 3,
