out of each days issue of water until we had enough to shave brush our teeth and wash with. I've had a bath in less than a pint of water and enjoyed it.
Out post work was part of our duties and many patrol parties went astray during the dark, and sometimes stormy nights. I was with a patrol myself one night and we lost our bearings. We went through our own lines and back again and after roaming around the country for about four hours we lay down and went to sleep. When daylight came we woke to find ourselves a few hundred yards from our picquet line which we had left the previous night.
