9th February 1917 Cont. Went on duty at 10 till 12. Received a letter from Rana & papers from Charlie. Had supper before going on duty.

10th February 1917. Woke at 8 for breakfast. Had an easy day off duty. Walked up the town in the morning. Had a sleep afternoon. Went on duty at 8 till 10 at night. Put through SOS tests in record time.

11th February 1917. Went on duty at 6 till 8.20. Had breakfast & fooled around with the wood etc also got one of the boys to clip my hair. After dinner went on duty at 12.30 till 5. Had tea & sat by the fire reading Aust. papers I have just received. Received letters from Rana & Nance also Made supper of porridge & cocoa and after having a feed went on duty again at 10 till 12. A Good deal of strafing going on tonight on our side.

12th February 1917. Woke at 8.30 & had breakfast. Walked up to town & bought coke etc Had dinner there. Left battery at 2.15 for R L the F.O.O dugout on the 3rd line of trenches. I stay here for a week amongst the shot & shell. Fritz strafing today and made it hot for a while on our journey down. Went on duty at the telephone in the infantry dugout a sniper one & practically shellproof. Different from the old one
