believe that in gratitude for his Majesties Bounty such Gentlemen in that Islandes are conversant in the study of Botany will have prepared Plants growing in Pots to be sent home as a Present to him in which case you are to receive them
Lodge them in the Places from whence those you leave behind have been taken & pay all possible attention to them in your passage home.
You are here also to use your best Endeavors to instruct such
person or Persons as the Governor & Council Shall direct to attend you for that purpose in the manner of cultivating the Plants you have brought from the East Indies & of preparing their Produce for food or such other purposes as they are
intended to answer & i̶n̶ ̶c̶a̶s̶e̶ if application is made to Engage you to stay on the Island & undertake y̶o̶u̶r̶s̶e̶l̶f̶ their culture
yourself on such terms of Emolument as you approve you are at liberty to accept them & will have Leave to Quit the Ship in which Case your Salary
