[Page 8]

I shall be able to make you copies on the [indecipherable] of money but at present I have disbursed much & have nothing whatever in Return.

No. 8, May 5, 1788
You do not say a word about the time when I can receive the specimen of the halfpenny, in the meantime the officers of the mint here & some people of Birmingham never given in specimens consider that I have disbursd much money & built a mint & that Government will not contract with me unless I can shew a specimen.  I know how troublesome it is to an eminent artist to be hastened but as I suppose you to have invested an easy & quick method of multiplying I concluded you could soon have replacd the Britannia.  I repeat to you again that you will be at liberty to quit Soho as soon as you have put the mint there into proper train.

July 10
lf you can find one or two workmen of yours who will accept reasonable [indecipherable] I beg you will bring them on my account.  I have put two beds & some Furniture in your house but should be much better pleasd if you could take up your habitation with me.
