it prudent to venture with the small number of persons who can be spared him the charge of the vessel wherever there appears to him a probability of discovering any useful to commence of manufactory of Great Britain

To note in his Journal in all places where he shall land either on the sea Coasts in the Banks of a River his opinion of the Comparative Fertility of the Soil which may best be judgd of by the size of the trees & the degree of vigor with which trees Shrubs & plants appear to him to grow,  as also such articles of the Produce of the Soil & the manners of the inhabitants as he shall deem worthy of note & in all places which appear to him of importance to Great Britain either on account of the convenience of the Harbors Shelter for shipping on the probable utility of the produce of the soil & take possesion 

with the Consent of the Natives if inhabited
