is with the Plants Cultivated in Kew Gardens & will often know by its first appearance a Plant which he can ably make out by application to his books in all such Cases you are Cheerfully to name to him the Plants you are acquainted with in order to spare him the trouble & waste of time that would Ensue were he obligd to seek them in his books

Your business will be to Collect specimens of all Plants that you are unacquainted with & to Dry & Prepare all such as Mr Able shall approve as many specimens of Each as he Shall Require if so many Can be Obtaind  This will be a laborious Task if the weather is hot & the specimens numerous as they will Require Shifting into Dry  Papers once a day till they are Dry, if this should require more Labor & Time than your diligence can supply you will have assistance on application to Mr Able in Recompence for this you will be allowd to select a collection of dried specimens for your own use

your next & most important business will be to Collect seeds for the Royal Gardens at Kew in the Execution of this duty you must lose no opportunity of Gathering such Seeds as you meet with Drying them properly & Ticketing the Parcels in which they are Finaly Packd up in the best manner you are able noting the place where found the nature of the Soil & the nature of the Plant annual Shrubbs a Tree &c &c You are not to Collect more Seeds of any one Plant than is necessary for a Spring & a Summer Sowing & are not on any account to part with any kind of Seed so collected unless orderd to do so
