having Receivd from Mr Aiton the very best character Possible of you not only for your Proficiency in horticulture but for the mildness of your Temper & the Ready Obedience you have always Practisd to your Superiors I can have no hesitation in delivering you over to a station where much Obedience will be Requird as many Persons will Consider themselves your Superiors and will have the right to require from you Every kind of Personal attention & even Obedience to Every Resonable Request 
   
to His Excellency the Ambassador Lord Amherst as the Chief of the whole undertaking an implicit Obedience must be Paid in all cases in which you are honord with his Lordships Commands The Commander of the Ship must be particularly Respected & all Reasonable Requests from him complied with but the Person under whose immediate Protection you are Placed is Mr Able To him you are to apply in all matters in which you think yourself entitled to Redress & by his decision you are to abide he will advise you if he thinks you are under any misapprehension & by his advice you are to Guide yourself & to be satisfied with his decision 

Mr Able is appointed Botanist to the Expedition & you are his assistant he is well Skilld in the theory of Botany & well able to arrange & describe such Plants as fall into his hands you are better acquainted than he
