of a sausage, well I besides other's watched a squadron of British planes go over and set 3 of them alight. This was the first time ever the British downed so many at one time. It appears it was a new invention the British had for destroying these balloons and while they keptthe them down Fritz could not get any observation which is one of the main factors in war-fare.

We remained 12 days as I have told you, after coming out we marched to a place by the name of Sailly where we remained for a few day's.

It was not long before we got a move on to our next billet which was at a small place called Merris which is about 12 miles away from Saillly.
