17 Mon
1st mail went out.
Reorganization of post, Col Rowell, Commandant, takes over at 12 noon. reported explosion of gun N.E. of tunnel gun (Turkish) 8.2" howitzer Turkish shelled the valley.  The 16th Crpl & 4 men failed to find the M Gun on Razorback & had 2 casualties.

18 Tues
Visit from Gen Godley  Enemy shrapnel hit Lt Edmunds in arm & he left the Post.  Monash valley shelled again, little damage.  Dowling returned.  Firing much slacker & it was quiet enough & talk in ordinary tone.  Casualties to date 3 K & 18 wd. An NZ sapper threw a grenade at ½ to 12 PM & started general fire
