over the greater part and appears to have had a moat round it in days gone by, which is represented now by the inside wall only. There is a statue dated 1742 in the garden of one of the old inhabitantsAny sign over about 150 years old is written in the style in vogue up to that period of substituting F's for S's. We went for a walk to Rickmansworth a fair sized village 2½ miles distance, had a look at a Church called St Mary's of the early 17's
