83to take the alarm clock back to camp. He had had more wine than was good for him. He accidently, so I was told, put it under his jacket and started off with it. He did not count on the alarm however. As he walked away the clock started to ting-a-ling and this drew the attention of the owners to the fact that their clock was being taken away from them.
Some of them landed back very drunk and as a matter of fact I was drawn out to mount guard over the cook who was very drunk. I well remember the night. It was a cold cheerless sort of place, even the stars had a very dead expression. We did
