76we could see that parts were quite blown down. We had to spend a good deal of the night building up the trenches again. I can remember well the flushed feeling present with all of us whilst the said was on. It's funny too when on sentry duty how it is quietness of the night one stands looking over the parapet trying to pierce the gloom of NO MAN'S LAND and to see what is on the other side, how the slightest thing will make you jump. One night I was on the above mentioned task and suddenly something ran straight across in front of my eyes. It proved to be a little mouse!
