168After we had been in occupancy for a little while the order came to go forward and under cover of night dig a trench just underneath the "Bluff", a place in occupancy of the Germans. Somehow or other young Smith and I fell asleep and didn't wake till just 3 o'clock in the morning. I went out and looked into some of the other dugouts, could not find anyone there however. We decided to go straight on to the new line following in the track of No 6 Platoon. When we reached the line where the platoon was dug in, it was just light and they attempted to abuse us for lagging behind. Of course it was not our fault but
