Idleness or Liquor as the inattention of a single day or in particular circumstances of half an hour may render the great expence incurred by Government in this humane & liberal undertaking wholly abortive. The ship is ordered to be Fitted in the best manner for stowing of trees & Plants & for Preventing as much as possible their receiving Injury & you will give your attendance on board as often as you may think it necessary & suggest any improvement or alteration in the Plan proposed which may appear to you calculated for their greater security and Preservation.
On your arrival at Oteheite which is the Island where your principal Duty will commence Capt Bligh will procure from the natives as many small bread fruit trees as can be Planted in the Pots Tubs Cases &c which will provide for their reception to these you will pay the utmost attention digging
