<p>[Page 105]</p><p>15th/7/18.<br />A local newspaper yesterday published the biggest slander yet against not only the Germans, but German women in particular. It was an excerpt from the letter of a German governess who used to live in England: [original in English]&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;You will be interested to hear I am officially pregnant, the fate of many girls in Germany to day, who are unmarried.&quot; [end English quote]</p><p>Newspaper writers must have an incredibly low opinion of the Australian people&#39;s cultural level to dare dishing out such crap. Then again, it shouldn&#39;t come as a surprise since they seem to have no concept of right and wrong, otherwise they wouldn&#39;t have been so shameless as to run the following report about their own countrymen: [original in English]</p><p>&quot;An Australian souvenir collector complained that these were the poorest lot of Fritzes [nickname for German soldiers, but in this context it may rather be used for German helmets or other parts of a German soldier&#39;s outfit] he had ever encountered, and that he had gone through 50 and failed to get a match. Upon this a group of Yanks each produced a good souvenir, and the Australian saw that the lack of souvenirs</p>
