EMBARKATION

The 35th. Battalion (Newcastle's Own) left Broadmeadow Camp on 30:4:16 and were given a splendid send off by the citizens of Newcastle. Entrained at Broadmeadows Station and proceeded to Sydney, disentraining at Central Station at 2pm, the Battalion marched to Moore Park where they were reviewed by Brig. Gen. Ramaciotti (State Commandant). Afterwards the unit marched to R.A.S. Ground Moore Park where they were billeted for the night and given Leave until 11pm. Early on the morning of 1:5:16 the Battalion marched to Woolloomooloo Bay and embarked at 8.0am, on Transport A 24. H.M.A.T. "Benalla". together with 9th. Aust. M.G.Coy. and 1 Section of 9th. Aust. Fld. Ambulance.
Pulling out in the stream embarkation details were completed and the troopship moved out of Port Jackson Meads at 4.0pm.

The 34th. Battalion left Rutherford an 1:5:16 at 9.0am, by train, after being given a rousing "Send Off" by relatives and friends and the towns people of West Maitland.
Detraining at Sydney Central Station in the early afternoon, the Battalion marched to Moore Park where they were reviewed by Brig. Gen. Ramacictti (State Commandant) afterwards marching to R.A.S. Grounds at Moore Park where they were billeted for the night and received Leave until 11.0pm.
Reveille at 4.0am when the Battalion marched to Woolloomooloo and embarked on Transport A   H.M.A.T. "Morarata" at 6.0am.
Pulling out into the stream embarkation details were completed and Ship passed Port Jackson Meads at 4.0pm.

33rd Battalion, after being given a fine "send off" by the towns people of West Maitland, entrained for Sydney on morning of 3:5:16. Arrived at Central Station shortly after mid-day the unit marched to Moore Park where they were reviewed by Brig. Gen. Ramaciotti (State Commandant). The Battalion was billeted in the R.A.S. Ground for the night and all ranks had Leave until 11.0pm.  
Next morning 4:5:16 the Battalion left the R.A.S. Ground at 4.0am and marched to Woolloomooloo Bay and embarked at 8.0am on Troopship No.   H.M.A.T. "Marathon".
Pulling out into the stream, embarkation formalities were completed and the ship given a rousing "send Off" by the harbour Ferry Steamers. Moving out the "Marathon" passed Port Jackson Heads at 3.0pm on 4:5:16.

The 36th. Battalion entrained at Newcastle early on the morning of Friday 12:5:16 and were given a tremendous "send Off" by the people of the City of Newcastle.
Arrived at Central Railway Station Sydney, the Battalion disentrained at 1.0pm, and marched to Moore Park where they were reviewed by Brig. Gen. Ramaciotti (State Commandant); subsequently marching to the R.A.S. Ground where billets were provided for the night. Leave until 11.0pm was much availed of by all ranks and at 4.30am next morning the Battalion left camp, marched to Woolloomooloo Bay and embarked on Transport A 72, H.M.A.T. "Beltana" at 8.0am. 
Moving out in the stream some time was spent completing embarkation formalities and at 2.0pm the troopship moved seawards, passing Port Jackson Heads at 2.30pm, being given a fine "Send Off" by the Ferry Steamers whil'st passing down the harbour.
