Background Note

CONTENTS: VOLUME 1 Mrs King's farm stock account book, 1807-1820. Stock account book, being detailed records of livestock on Mrs King's farm at South Creek (St Marys, New South Wales), including stock accounts. Livestock records include fortnightly and monthly returns of stock, being horned cattle, horses, sheep, goats, and swine. Records include numbers of stock listed by age, and recording increases and decreases in stock numbers. Early entries are in Rowland Hassall's hand. Accounts include entries for incoming and outgoing monies providing details of grain, equipment and supplies purchased for the farm. The accounts also record the names of workmen on the farm. There are copies of letters sent to Anna Josepha King and her son Phillip Parker King and records of remittances to Anna Josepha King. Includes an inventory of stock, provisions, sundry utensils and farming implements on the farm at the time of the resignation of overseer William Hayes and the appointment of replacement overseer James Everett. Records of livestock, being horned cattle, horses, sheep, and swine; and recording details of increases and decreases for each month. Accounts include wheat account, maize account, barley account, beef account, pork account and lard account. Accounts also include the names of workmen on Mrs King's properties.
