5. Objections to the E.I C.
an application being made by Ld Camden to the Court of Directors for their opinion on a Suggestion for the Colonists of N.S.W. to be Permitted to trade with China in their own Vessels with seal Skins & Trepang.  The Court answer that the Question is of very Great importance as is the inevitable Consequence of building Ships in N.S W whatever restrictions may at port be Enjoind, will be an intercourse with all the Ports of the China & Indian Seas & a Population of European descent reard in a Climate suited to maintain the Energies of the European Character which when it becomes numerous active & opulent may be expectd to acquire the ascendancy in the Indian Seas, 6th June 1805 Ramsey.

6. The Lady Barlow 
Mr. Grant Chairman of the Court who attended the Commee & informd them that the Lady Barlow licencd by the Govr. of N.S.W. was under [indecipherable] by the Customs house.

The Lords agreed that the Importation equaly irregular & illegal in respect to the Companys Charter & the Laws of navigation, Minutes 18 July 1806.

Mr. Campbell attended on behalf of the owners of the Lady Barlow, Mr. Mather on that of the S.W. fishery, their Lordships orderd that the oil & skins be landed in order to be sold at the India Sales in expectation & the ship releasd on a moderate satisfaction being made to the Sailors on condition of her returning to India as no Register would be granted to her.

7.  Adjustment between the Parties, Jan. 11 1806
From Mr. Roses docket it appears that Mr. Campbell on the Part of the N.S.W. adventurers will be contented with leave to send the Produce of the new fishery to Foreign Countries & the London adventurers do not object to this, Jan. 11 1806.

8.  Foreign Sealing
The americans do not only carry on the Sealing Trade within the Territories of N.S.W. but have laid down a vessel in Kentsbury in Furneaux Isles.  A French Schooner came here for the Purpose of Sealing from the Isle of France.

9.  Colonial Sealers
The adventuring Colonists give employment to 123 men in Sealing besides the Ship builders and other artisans.

10. Intercourse with China
The animal calld in Portugese Beche de Mer & by the Chinese Trepang is found in abundance on the Reefs near where the Cato was Lost, this sells for £50 a Ton at Canton.

If this Trepang, oil &c can be carried by the Colonists to China & sold
