Dear Sir
On my arrival in Madeira from the Azores I was honoured with your letter, which gave me great satisfaction, to hear that you had received all my Madeira collection: much more so, as I hope that they will be determined this winter and should be glade of a catalogue of their names. Some time before I left Madeira I sent you one half my Azorian collection which was but small, the other half was to be sent to Aiton by another opportunity which if requisite I hope he will divide with you.
The Canaries I am in hopes will produce a great many curious Plants, and by the disposition of the people I think I shall be able to investigate them. I have not made any long excursions yet: but observed many plants which I think are new. I have sent a few of them to Mr. Aiton which I hope he will also divide with you.
I am Sir ever
yours Fr Masson
