the means in your power to expedite that matter, as time is precious, and as Mr Webber gave me no hopes that the publication could be made in less than a year from the time when we are actually in possession of the paper, I am persuaded that when you & I meet we shall easily settle the mode of distributing the profits of the publication, & this is a matter that does not press in point of time;

Mr Hodges had no share of the profits, but it was in agitation whether he should or should not be a sharer, and he was satisfied by being kept for a certain time with a salary (I think) of 250£ a year from the Admiralty, which as well as I recollect lasted two years.

I heartily wish it was in my power to wait on you at your castle, but I am obliged to go to town the latter end of next week, on some business
