the Pound avoirdupoise [avoirdupois] of Copper, are received as good, till reduced by wear to about the weight of 128 Grains each, or 55 on an Average to a Pound;-  It is proposed therefore, to establish this weight of 55 Pieces, to the Pound Avoirdupoise, as the lowest that will be received and compensated by Sale.

This is proposed as a fair and just Proportion between the Public and the Poorer classes of the People, who are the Holders of these Tokens; It is not denied that under this mode of proceeding, some of the best executed Counterfeits will be received; but it is submitted, that in whatever manner this business
