The Fog Signals in this New System are equally improved, and sufficient, the Commanders being enabled to address their orders to any part of their Fleet, and each Ship distinctly to comprehend, to make and to repeat, every Signal, to preserve her Station, to know when she is out of it, and to make the proper dispositions for regaining it, as soon as weather permits.

This System is wholly numerary, and any Code of Significations, may at any time be instantly adapted to it.

Each Code in this System has its peculiar table, for the ready making, or referring to, the respective Signals, and the Signal Books will have a compleat general Index Table, wherein the different articles, with their respective numbers, in either of the Codes, for Flat, or Private Ships, by Night, by Day, or in a Fog, will be seen at one view.

The possibility of uniting such great and numerous advantages, in a System of Signals, has been doubted by experienced men, in the Naval Profession.  The System produced, decides the matter, and will probably serve as a general model.
