If you know our Envoy, or Ambassador at Rio Janeiro, have the goodness to mention me, & my pursuits to him, as such manner as may help to induce him to comply with as many of my requests as he well can. I have lately wrote several letters to him, & sent him many seeds. Many plants are found in that Country that we want in the East Indies. Such as Jalap, Ipipecuana, [Lagwood?], Brasilleto &c. but above all things the true Cochineal Insect.
You have not sent me any Potatoe seed. Do not forget me when you next send any thing of the kind, & I hope this will reach you in time for the April [fleet?] of 1810.
