I have seen for a few hours Dr Swartz Prodromus Plantarum Indiae Occidentalis.  He has made many New Genera & Species But two thirds of those were settled and ascertained by yourself in 1777 from my first Collections, and several more from my last in 1786.  In his intended Work, I hope he will do me justice, and that I shall have no reason to complain.  I shewed [showed] him much attention personally and by Letters. and pointed out Numbers of Plants he did not know or had not seen.  But if he is disposed to take all those as discoveries.  There are many Evidences against him in your possession and a Herbarium of mine in this City of Eleven years standing.

Send me Mr. Mc Leans Paper and point out the Errors that it may be altered.
