I have taken a small neat house in the city, and will get it furnished by the Term every thing being long since settled with the College here.
The new fangled Royal Society have their first Vol in the Prep, with some strange Papers in it as I am told. The Antiquaries were indebted 500£ to Lord Buchan their founder, like himself, he has sold their house of meeting & repository. and it is likely will break the Society up. Tho' [though] a a member of both I have attended none of them, since my arrival in Edinburgh.
The new Professor is busy composing Lectures in Botany, he solicits my assistance but it will depend on his circumstance. If he teaches the System of Linnaeus as it is.
Therefore he had joined the Nibblers of the Sexual System, without supplying the defects of that beautifull [beautiful] System, the best of all arrangements.
