Norfolk Island 10th, Sept 1792

Dr Sir

Last May I had the pleasure of writing you by the Pitt & by the same opportunity sent you a box of specimens the plants of which are produced on this Island.

I hope they will arrive safe as I think some of them are new - you will also find in the same box a drawing of what they have here called the tree [Bam boo?] another drawing with of the plant in fruit I have sent you in a box with some specimens by the Atlantic.  Lt. [Bowan?] has promised to take charge of them, there are also some seeds in very good order & so lately collected that I have no doubt of their growing - any other seeds or specimens I may collect during my stay here shall be sent by the next opportunity.

I have sent you a small box of the different stratas numbered as follows - No 1 Bottom strata at Anson Bay No 2 Second Strata irregular - the third is mixed colour red, yellow & white No 4 scoria formed above the Basaltes, No 5 the regular pillars between Cascade & Duncomb [Duncombe] bays of which there
