[Page 2]

Dear Sir her sollicitation was from a high sense of your regard, but too doubtfull of the consistency of her application, she was assisted by Mr Keate to deliver her letter, and I cannot say sufficiently how gratefull I feel to you for the reception you gave it.  I hope it may be the means of my receiving some situation hereafter, for my request  is not from idle disposition, but from seeing strange characters get advantagous situations and having a large family of young girls to bring forward in Life.

We are now waiting for orders from the Board ordnance to take our guns & powder and, when we shall proceed up to Chatham & go from one ship into the other, which is a great advantage.  If circumstances will permitt I may have a few days leave to come to town, and I hope to see you in good health, for believe me My Dear Sir I am with the most heartfelt gratitude,

Your faithfull and
affectionate Humble Servant

Wm Bligh
