deliver it to you myself altho I am sorry to find I have so early found an instance of my not being able to bear fatigue as I have formerly done. Nothing can do better th the ship & Brig - except in very strong winds, she keeps company remarkably well, & sometimes she out sails us, indeed every thing is as I can wish, but we shall be better acquainted by the time I come to the Cape, & my officers will become habituated to that attention which very few indeed are acquainted in necessary in these voyages.
The Heat here is extreme, such as never experienced before & the winds at night are as blowing from a furnace. One of my poor men who was with me in the Boat is lying dangerously ill with a fever like what I have, but the other who left Greenwich to come with me is very well. In other respects no ships company were ever in better health.
