leave the Ship as soon as possible - he cannot find his latitude to ten miles & he knows nothing about the Variation of the Compass or how to conduct a Ship.
I had at one time determined not to mention any thing of this Trial to you, but since, I have supposed it could be mentioned & you would be surprized that you knew it not from my own hand, & therefore have humbled you with this Packet with my Defence, & the Charge at large on the back of it.
I hope My Dear Sir you continue in good health and likewise the Ladies - from your last letter I have hoped you will not again have any severe fit of the gout & which I pray will be the case.
