Warrior in Cawsand Bay

April 25 1805

My Dear Sir

By the time you will receive this, my former letters will have reached you with acknowledgements of my thanks, and my acceptance of the appointment to the Colony of New Sout Wales also of my arrival at this Port very unexpectedly on Thursday last.  Yesterday the Wind came so strong from the eastwood I could not get on shore, but in the evening it moderated and by the Guard Boat your letter of the  21st was sent out to me.  I am much obliged to you my Dear Sir for the trouble and pains you have taken to explain to me what I may expect, in answer to which I assure you Government need not grudge me any thing in reason for the care I am about to undertake, as I trust they will amply be remunerated by the happyness and prosperity of the Colony - circumstances which you have so much at heart, & have a great weight in my mind.
