Table Bay Cape of Good Hope
Novr 24. 1791
My dear Sir
I Anchored here in the 6th Inst The Crews in good health except one Man whose illness will most likely prevent his going the Voyage.
I sailed from Teneriffe the 27th August and crossed the Line on the 3rd of October, - untill that time I continued very ill, but a more favourable climate as we go to the Southward gave change, and I am so much revived that my stay here will perfectly restore me my usual health. I touched at St Iago [Santiago] to get some oranges, & in hope that the Land air might be of service to me, but as a bad Fever was in the Town I only stayed a few Hours. I was but barely able to dictate to the Surgeon to write a few lines to you which was sent by an American Vessel - I wish you may receive it before the Accounts from Teneriffe.
I have been these ten Days in the Country as far as Stellinbosh, and the Air & Exercise has been of great service to me.
