April 23rd 1805

[indecipherable] Tavern Dock

My Dear Sir

I have just time to inform you we anchored this morning and received orders to refit with the utmost dispatch & victual for 6 months, to be ready to push after the French in case they put to sea - indeed I have just heard that 11 Sail of the Line several frigates & many troops on board have escaped from Toulon. I hope My Dear Sir you have received my letter of the 10th accepting of your kind & generous offer to me, and I have this moment heard from Mrs Bligh that you had sent her word my appointment was fixed.  From this instant My Dear Sir the object you have had in view will become my particular care, & I am confident every circumstance will give you much pleasure and satisfaction.  I hope to have the happyness of hearing from you very soon, & my removal from the Warrior lest an alarm of the Brest Fleet take me to sea again.  I shall pack up all things & prepare to quit at the shortest notice.  Perhaps My Dear Sir you could which little hounds to go with me & as the ship which takes us out will want Mids I have Mr Peter Mills a young gentleman 19 years of Age
